ScoreX

Support

ScoreX is early software on real hardware. If something is not working, we would rather hear about it than have you work around it.

Email support@scorex.tech and we will come back to you.

Four things make a reply useful straight away, so include them if you can:

The app cannot find the court

The app looks for the scoreboard on whatever network your phone is currently on. Almost every case is one of three things:

Scanning the court label opens a web page instead of the app

That page is the fallback for someone who does not have ScoreX installed, so seeing it means Android did not hand the link to the app. Either the app is not installed on that phone, or the phone checked the link before the app was set up for it.

Android performs that check when the app is installed and does not repeat it on its own. Reinstalling the app makes it check again. In the meantime nothing is lost: open the app and pick the court from the list — scanning is a shortcut, not the only route in.

Someone else is scoring, or my taps do nothing

A court can only be scored by one device at a time, on purpose — otherwise two people at opposite ends of a court quietly overwrite each other. Whoever picked the court up first holds control, and the app shows a banner saying so, with a button to request it.

If the current holder has walked away, ask for control from the banner; if they are still scoring, the board keeps following them, which is the correct outcome.

The board is showing the wrong score

The scoreboard mirrors the app, so correct it in the app and the board follows. Undo steps back through the points as they were entered.

Does any of this need the internet?

No. Scoring happens directly between your phone and the scoreboard over the local network. A club with no broadband at all can run matches and tournaments normally. The internet is only involved when the app itself is being updated.

Updating the app

Updates arrive through Google Play once your device is on the tester list we set up for your club. If you are not sure whether yours is, email us — it takes a minute to check.
